Virginia Genealogical Society's Spring Conference and Annual Membership Meeting
The Virginia Genealogical Society will hold its spring conference and annual membership meeting on April 21, 2012 at the Virginia Historical Society located at 428 North Boulevard, Richmond, Virginia. The conference theme is the War of 1812. Here are some highlights:

- Frances Pollard: The Resources and Treasurers of the Virginia Historical Society
- Michael L. Strauss: Bankruptcy to Equity: Using Federal Court Records
- Stuart Butler: The War of 1812 in Virginia: Did anything happen here?
Francis Pollard is the Chief Librarian at the Virginia Historical Society.
Stuart L. Butler is former assistant chief of the Old Military and Civil Branch of the National Archives and Records Administration. He has written extensively about the War of 1812 and has a new book about the War scheduled to be released at the time of this conference. He is on the Advisory Council of the Virginia Bicentennial of the American War of 1812 Commission.
Michael L. Strauss, AG is an Accredited Genealogist for the Eastern States Region with the International Commission for the Accreditation of Professional Genealogists. Strauss works with the Coast Guard Station Museum in Virginia Beach, Virginia, as a research archivist and currently serves as Vice President and former Trustee of the Virginia Beach Genealogical Society. He is also published and an expert witness in kinship-estate matters in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.

Lee Takes Command
Experience Confederate General Robert R. Lee's Richmond on the 150th anniversary of him taking command of his famous Army of Northern Virginia. This three-day event is co-sponsored with the Museum of the Confederacy. Information: 652-3411
Lee Takes Command Lecture
For all ages. Civil War author and historian Dr. Emory Thomas will examine Lee as a man and a general. This lecture is co-sponsored by the Museum of the Confederacy and the Virginia War Memorial. A Dinner with Lee
For all ages 12+. Registration of a paying adult is required with children under 18.. Come listen to notable Lee re-enactor David Palmer touch on Robert R. Lee's personal side while enjoying some of his favorite foods and listening to period music.

Lee Takes Command: A Walking Tour
For ages 12+. Registration of a paying adult is required with children under 18. Enjoy a walking tour of Lee's most frequently visited sites in the City of Richmond and Henrico County before he took command of the Army of Northern Virginia in 1862. Tour includes Dabbs House Museum, White House of the Confederacy, The Stewart-Lee House, Virginia's State Capitol, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and others. Tour requires lengthy walking and standing. Fee includes bus transportation, admission fees, and a box lunch.
